A private funeral service was held on Monday, May 13, 2013 at Senshin Buddhist Temple for Yoshito Yamada, 96-year-old, Parlier, Calif.-born Nisei, World War II veteran, 442nd Regimental Combat Team, Congressional Gold Medal and Purple Heart recipient, who passed away on April 29, 2013 in Simi Valley after a brief illness. He lived in Kingsburg most of his life until he moved to Nikkei Senior Gardens in Arleta, CA on his 95th birthday.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2013 at 12 p.m. at Kingsburg Buddhist Church, 831 Orange St., Kingsburg, CA, with burial service immediately to follow at Kingsburg Cemetery, 12782 E. Clarkson Ave, Kingsburg, CA. Family requests flowers be omitted.

He is survived by his wife, Alice Yamada; children, JoAnn (Neil) Komai and David (Leslie) Yamada; grandchildren, Allison Yamada, and Kayce and Hannah Komai; brothers, Hidemi (Ellen) and Suyenori (Toni) Yamada; sisters-in-law, Hatsuki and Yoshi Yamada, and Edith (Art) Mikamo; also survived by many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
