As part of the Los Angeles Underground Film Festival, “Lil Tokyo Reporter” will screen in Block 1 of short films on Sunday, June 23, from 2:30 to 4:30pm at the Whitefire Theater, 13500 Ventura Blvd. in Sherman Oaks.

The film festival has named “Lil Tokyo Reporter” as best short film and Chris Tashima as best actor. The film is also in competition for Audience Awards for best film, best actor and best actress.

“Lil Tokyo Reporter” has received 11 awards since its release in September 2012. The film takes place in 1935 Los Angeles and tells the story of real-life newspaper publisher Sei Fujii.

Upcoming screenings are on July 24 in Washington D.C. at the JACL National Convention, followed by the Asian American International Film Festival on July 25 in New York City.
