The JACL has announced the appointment of Allison Haramoto as the new executive editor of its newspaper, The Pacific Citizen.

Allison Haramoto

Haramoto has served as interim editor since last September, and was appointed as executive editor effective June 16. She directed the publication of the annual Scholarship Issue and Holiday Issue, and is managing the current Spring Campaign.

Haramoto has over 17 years of experience in the publishing field, and previously worked at Apex Learning Systems and The Hollywood Reporter. She holds a bachelor’s degree in English and communications, with an emphasis on journalism, from the University of the Pacific in Stockton.

JACL National President David Lin said, “I am confident that with Allison’s expertise and leadership, she will be able to take this premier publication to the next level in meeting the ever-changing needs of JACL members and the Asian Pacific American community at large.”

Haramoto succeeds Caroline Aoyagi-Stom, who is now the newsroom editor in Southern California Edison’s corporate communications department.

Established in 1929, The Pacific Citizen is headquartered in Los Angeles’ Little Tokyo.
