SAN JOSE — Yu-Ai Kai Senior Center will present its first senior art show fundraiser, “Chikara to Bi — Strength and Beauty,” from July 12 to 14 at the Akiyama Wellness Center, 110 Jackson St. in Japantown.
The event will showcase artwork from seniors in the community, both professional and amateur — over 25 artists and 200 pieces. Proceeds will benefit Yu-Ai Kai, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote healthy aging, successful independent living, and advocate for all seniors, while embracing Japanese American tradition.
An opening reception will be held on Friday from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Meet the artists, enjoy refreshments and live music, and participate in a silent auction.
The show and sale will continue on Saturday and Sunday from 12 to 6 p.m.
The watercolors of Emi Serizawa are also on display at the Akiyama Wellness Center on an ongoing basis.
Yu-Ai Kai is also holding a collectibles sale on July 13 from 12 to 4 p.m. at its main building, 588 N. 4th St. in Japantown.
