GARDENA — The Gardena Valley Japanese Cultural Institute, 1964 W. 162nd St. in Gardena, will be co-sponsoring a seminar with the Alzheimer’s Association on Saturday, Aug. 3, from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
The topic for the seminar will be “Alzheimer’s Disease: An Update.” John Danner, will discuss the latest research about the disease, and also the latest and possible future treatments.
Danner is a licensed clinical social worker with many years of experience in aging, disability, and dementia. He is on the staff of the Memory and Aging Center at the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California, working with a multidisciplinary research group on dementia research projects. He directs the Brain Research Study, an Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center-funded study by the National Institutes of Health. The study provides brain donations to discover the molecular and neurological basis for memory loss.
