SAN FRANCISCO — “Valor with Honor,” a documentary on the 442nd Regimental Combat Team, will be screened on Sunday, Aug. 18, at 1 p.m. at the Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Northern California, 1840 Sutter St. in San Francisco Japantown.

This independent 85-minute film is based on over 35 oral histories of Japanese American World War II vets that served in the 442nd, which was recently awarded the Congressional Gold Medal along with the 100th Infantry Battalion and Military Intelligence Service.  It includes harrowing accounts of the rescue of the Lost Battalion in France, the assault up Mount Folgorito in Italy, and the liberation of the Dachau death camp in Germany.

Q&A with filmmaker Burt Takeuchi will follow the screening. DVDs will be sold at the event.

Hosted by the JCCCNC and co-presented by the San Francisco JACL.
