The Wesley Ukulele Band will be among the performers.

SAN JOSE — Wesley United Methodist Church will hold its annual Aki Matsuri (fall festival) on Saturday, Sept. 21,  from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.  The church is located at 566 N. 5th St. in Japantown.

Festival-goers can enjoy traditional Japanese American foods — inari-zushi, maki-zushi, Spam musubi, chicken teriyaki, barbecue Korean-style ribs, soba, chicken salad, Aki Dogs, manju, snow cones, and strawberry shortcake.

The outdoor farmer’s market will be filled with both cut and potted fragrant flowers as well as houseplants. Also for sale will be many hand-made crafts, Japanese used books, Wesley Cookbook, home-made jams, Christmas ornaments and white elephant items.

Ongoing entertainment will include local talent — the church’s own Wesley Jazz Ensemble and the Wesley Ukulele Band performing their collection of sing-along oldies and Hawaiian favorites. Ukulele Jams, Na Wai Ola and San Jose Taiko will also perform.

There will be games and craft activities for the children.
