GARDENA — The Nikkei Federation will be hosting its second Nikkei Community Center Forum on Saturday, Sept. 28, from 2 to 5:30 p.m. at the Gardena Valley Japanese Cultural Institute (GVJCI).
The forum brings together staff and volunteer leadership (e.g. board members) from across the region.
The main purpose of the forum is to provide an opportunity for the leadership from the various Nikkei community centers to meet, share ideas and address issues of common concern. This particular forum will not only allow for participants to discuss center-specific issues like board and membership development, but will also focus on the issue of working with post-World War II Nikkei immigrants.
Participation is limited per community center and interested individuals are asked to coordinate their participation through their respective boards of directors or executive staff.
Specific questions about the forum can be directed to Jeff Murakami at jeffmurakami@gmail.com. Information about the Nikkei Federation can be obtained by visiting its website: www.nikkeifederation.org.
The GVJCI is located at 1964 W. 162nd St. in Gardena (between Western and Van Ness).
