Following a two-week “soft opening,” Aloha Pizza & Shave Ice Company held its official opening on Sunday in Gardena’s Artesia Square, which also includes Rascals Teriyaki Grill, Gatten Sushi, and Honeyboba. Owner Sheri Kleeger (third from right), who was joined by her husband, Kenny (second from right), and parents, Tom and Hisayo Ogata, oversaw the busy kitchen.  They are pictured with Johnny Mori (left) and Danny Yamamoto (right), founding members of Hiroshima, who gave a taiko performance.

Entertainment included a taiko performance by Mori and Yamamoto as well as Hawaiian music and dance.

The pizzas, with names like Kamehameha, Iolani, Hapa Haole and Haleakala, feature such ingredients as Portuguese sausage, sweet onions, kalua pork and Sriracha garlic chicken. Also on the menu are pupus, salads and mochi ice cream.
