Grand Visions Foundation presents the Taiko Center of Los Angeles in concert with East LA Taiko and Team Taiko on Friday, Dec. 6, at 8 p.m. (doors open at 7:30 p.m.) at The Grand Annex, 434 W. 6th St. in San Pedro.
Founded in 1996 by Rev. Tom Kurai, TCLA will present traditional and contemporary taiko drumming works.
Special guests Maceo Hernandez and Fredo Ortiz of ELA Taiko will perform fusion taiko music with Latin and world sounds.
Team Taiko, the opening act, is a student taiko group from the Wilmington Skills Center class taught by Kurai.
Kurai has been performing and teaching taiko since 1975. TCLA currently has 16 performing members and another 60 students taking taiko classes.
General admission: $20 in advance, $25 at the door. Cabaret table seat: $25 in advance, $30 at the door (subject to availability). Cafe Deck VIP: $30 in advance, $35 at the door — bar ticket with drink service (limited to 20 people).
