A funeral service for Mary Harue Hatakeyama, 86-year-old, Norwalk, Calif.-born Nisei, who passed away on Nov. 23, 2013, will be held on Friday, Dec. 20, 2013 at 11 a.m. at East San Gabriel Valley Japanese Community Center, 1203 W. Puente Ave., West Covina, with Bishop Noriaki Ito of Higashi Honganji Buddhist Temple officiating. Family requests that flowers be omitted.

She is survived by her children: Kris (Akemi) Hatakeyama, Nancy (Raymond) Maekawa, and Joy (Calvert) Kitaura; grandchildren, Michael (Charliese) Waldroup, Emi and Kenji Hatakeyama, Randy and Kevin Maekawa, Callen (Ryan) Shimomura, and Kimberly and Tami Kitaura; three great-grandchildren; siblings, Kita Muramoto and Ken Harada; also survived by many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
