SAN FRANCISCO — A closing reception for “From the Mist” will be held on Saturday, Jan. 26, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the National Japanese American Historical Society, 1684 Post St. in San Francisco Japantown.
The exhibit features over 30 years of Nihonmachi Street Fair screen-print poster art by Leland Wong. His colorful, bold and imaginative posters, which have been associated with the annual Nihonmachi Street Fair since its inception in 1974, were much anticipated by festival-goers and are now collector’s items. A product of the 1970s and ’80s, Wong brings an iconic style to the poster art of that period.
Co-curated by Richard Tokeshi and Leon Sun, “Through the Mist” opened last Aug. 1, just prior to the 2013 Nihonmachi Street Fair, and closes Jan. 31. Gallery hours are 12 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
