IRVINE — Beckman High School basketball player Nina Fukuma was named Scholar-Athlete of the Week on Dec. 24 by The Orange County Register.
A guard for the Patriots, Fukuma is also a standout performer in her academics and in the community. She has a 4.67 GPA and her classes include AP U.S. government, AP micro economics, AP English literature and composition, AP statistics, AP Spanish, honors physics, and chamber orchestra. She is an AP Scholar and a National Merit Commended Scholar.
Fukuma has served as a leader and tutor for the Link Cru and as vice president for the school’s Taiko Club. She has volunteered at the Discovery Science Center and the Kids Institute for Development and Advancement.
USC, UCLA, Cal and Cornell are among her top college destinations.
