Keiko Martha Shiba passed away peacefully on December 31, 2013 in her Upland home of 43 years. She was born on August 27, 1929 in Delano, CA. Her husband of 64 years, Katsumi Shiba, was the former owner of Mt. Fuji Garden Center.
Kei had a gift of hospitality, was an outstanding cook, an excellent seamstress and received her ikebana (Japanese flower arranging) certification from Japan.
Keiko’s “tanoshimi” (joy in life) was her family. She is survived and greatly missed by her 3 children, Karrie, Layne and Lindsay, 5 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter. A graveside service will held on Friday, January 24 at the LaVerne Cemetery at 3 PM. In loving memory, a celebration of life will follow in her Upland home.
