Hacienda Heights Wilson senior Kaelyn Kawamoto was a one-woman wrecking crew on Jan. 8,, scoring 20 points in a 59-31 drubbing of host Nogales.

Kawamoto was 7 for 13 in field goal shooting, and connected on four of her seven 3-point attempts. For good measure, she also had five rebounds and four steals in the win.
Wilson’s night was characterized by high-percentage shooting, led by Kaitlyn Iwamoto (90 percent), Kristen Kawasaki (83 percent) and Kawamoto’s 69 percent.
Iwamoto had nine points for Wilson, while Kelli Iwamoto netted eight, Nikita Lee seven and Kawasaki five.
Wilson was set to travel to San Dimas on Jan. 10 for a Valle Vista League contest.
In Torrance, West High got 15 points from Hayley Tanabe and 14 from Kayla Sato, as the Warriors erased a 21-point deficit and won a thriller over visiting Culver City, 60-58.
With under 30 seconds to play and the score tied, Sato stole the inbound pass and scored what proved to be the game-winning shot.
Bailey Kurahashi added five for West (16-2), who traveled to face crosstown rival Torrance on Jan. 10.
