Repertory Dance Theatre presents “Legacy: Homage to Michio Ito” on Wednesday, March 12, at 7:30 p.m. at the Aratani Theatre, 244 S. San Pedro St. in Little Tokyo.

The dancer Michio Ito (1892-1961), whose talents were admired by Debussy and Rodin in Paris, by Yeats and Shaw in England, and by thousands in the United States, was a friend and model for Little Tokyo-based photographer Toyo Miyatake (1896-1979).
In addition to Ito’s works, “Legacy” will present works by Ruth St. Denis, Ted Shawn, Doris Humphrey and Molissa Fenley, choreographers who, like Ito, worked in California and changed the landscape of modern dance in America. RDT will also perform works created between 1918 and 2005.
General admission: $15. For more information, call (213) 628-2725 or visit www.jaccc.org.
In conjunction with the performance, “Toyo and Michio,” a photo exhibition from the Toyo Miyatake Foundation, will be exhibited in the South Gallery of the Japanese American Cultural and Community Center, adjacent to the theater, from March 10 to 15.
