SAN FRANCISCO — “Noodles for Nippon” will be presented by Friends for Fukushima, with the support of the Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Northern California and North American Food Distributing Co. Inc. on Sunday, March 9, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the JCCCNC’s Issei Memorial Hall, 1840 Sutter St. in San Francisco Japantown.
Come fill up in support of the Horikawa Aiseien Children’s Home in Fukushima, which is for abused and neglected children who need help now. Their homes were badly damaged in the March 11, 2011 earthquake, forcing them to undergo complete reconstruction in 2012 — and to undertake a debt equal to $1.2 million.
“Please come to help them keep their new-found hope in the shape of their new homes, and to show that the Bay Area still cares,” event organizers said.
Tickets for all-you-can-eat udon are $10 presale, $12 at the door. A la carte tempura is $3. Children 5 and under eat free with a paid adult.
