The “Live at the Aratani” concert series will continue Saturday, April 26, at 7:30 p.m. in Little Tokyo, when Hawaiian veteran show band the Society of Seven returns to Southern California.
Named one of the best acts in Las Vegas, where they have a long-running engagement, the group has been lauded for its performances full of “big voices, a little shtick and a lot of heart,” according to The Las Vegas Review-Journal. The variety troupe is known for its trademark merging of popular hits and Broadway show tunes in a flashy Las Vegas setting, accentuated by dancing, comedy and celebrity impersonations.
For their show in Little Tokyo, SOS will be joined by R&B and soul songstress Lhey Bella.
Voted the “Best Show in Waikiki” by Honolulu Magazine, Society of Seven was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Hawaii Academy of Recording Arts in 2007.
The Aratani Theatre is located next to the Japanese American Cultural and Community Center, 244 S. San Pedro St., Los Angeles. For tickets or information, call (213) 628-2725 or visit www.jaccc.org.
