Satoshi “Bud” Nagase passed away peacefully at home in San Jose on March 24, 2014 at age 97. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Helen and his brother Isamu (“Sam”) and sister Harumi (“Pam”). He is survived by his daughter Nancy and son Alan, nephew and nieces, and several grand-nephews and grand-nieces.
He was born in San Fernando, Calif., and grew up in Watsonville. He served more than 20 years in Japan as a liaison officer for the U.S. military. He received the Congressional Gold Medal in February 2012 in recognition of his wartime service in the Military Intelligence Service. He was buried with full military honors at Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Bruno. Memorial services were held at Wesley United Methodist Church in San Jose on April 12.
