Composer and pianist Scott Nagatani (www.reverbnation.com/ScottNagatani) will join the Little Tokyo Branch Library once again for Make Music LA on Saturday, June 21, from 3 to 4:45 p.m.
This year, he will feature vocalist Keiko Kawashima for American standards, traditional Japanese folk songs, and storytelling through songs for the young at heart. Kawashima has worked on numerous theater productions and music projects in the U.S. and Japan. She is a founding member of the Grateful Crane Ensemble (www.GratefulCrane.com).
Nagatani will also accompany Anime Wong in performing songs from her post-punk music project “Surely Lorraine.” Produced by Boz Boorer, “Surely Lorraine’s” debut single, “Calling Out,” is out now from the EP “Tunes of Portugal” (www.SurelyLorraine.com).
Before the musical performance, come join the magic, comedy and fun of magician Wayne Kawamoto from 1 to 2 p.m. Discover why Wayne, a full time professional magician, is always in demand at events across the Southland and a performer at Hollywood’s Magic Castle. Cards, sleight of hand, mind reading and more. This is not your little brother or sister’s magic show.
The library validates for free 90-minute parking in the Paragon Parking lot just south of the library. Bring in yellow ticket to Info Desk for validation.
The Little Tokyo Branch Library is located at 203 S. Los Angeles St. (at Second Street), Los Angeles and can be reached at (213) 612-0525.
