PASADENA — Guitarist Yu Ooka will be among the guest musicians joining famed pianist Billy Mitchell for a free concert at the Levitt Pavilion in Pasadena’s Memorial Park, Raymond Avenue between Walnut and Holly.

Mitchell’s “Circle of Friends” show is part of the summer concert series at the Levitt, and begins at 7 p.m. on Sunday, July 6. In addition to Mitchell and Ooka, the band consists of Del Atkins (bass), Quentin Dennard (drums), Greg Vail (saxophone), Hagai Izraeli (trumpet) and Kurt Hamernik (percussion). Attendees are asked to bring their own seats.
Festival begins at 5:30 p.m., featuring KidZone, Open Mic Night and Taste of Levitt Pavilion Pasadena.
Ooka is one of the founders of Minyo Station, a group that blends modern rural folk of Japan with modern jazz and rock forms. He recently returned from a tour in Japan, one that also featured Mitchell.
