SANTA BARBARA — Buddhist Church of Santa Barbara, which revived its Obon Odori tradition last year after a 24-year hiatus, will hold its 2014 Obon Festival on Saturday, July 19, from 2 to 5 p.m.
The final dance practice will be held on Friday, July 18, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. No experience necessary.
Last year’s dance was well attended, with groups from other Southern California temples coming to show their support.
In addition to Bon Odori, the festival will feature taiko drumming, a Buddhist service, games, origami, Japanese music, Japanese crafts, flower arranging and more.
Parking is available at nearby Franklin School.
Admission is free. The church is located at 1015 E. Montecito St. For more information, call (805) 962-3633, email minister@oxnardbuddhisttemple.org or visit www.buddhistchurchofsantabarbara.org/obon.
