OAKLAND — “Mrs. Judo: Be Strong, Be Gentle, Be Beautiful” will be screened on Sunday, Aug. 24, at 3 p.m. at the New Parkway Theater, 474 24th St., Oakland.

San Francisco filmmaker Yuriko Gamo Romer’s 2012 documentary follows the late Keiko Fukuda, the highest-ranking woman in judo, through her nine-decade journey over four continents.

The screening will be introduced by film curator/filmmaker Jeff M. Giordano and will be followed by a Q&A with the director.

Romer will also present a clip from her new, in-production documentary, which explores the shared love of baseball in the U.S. and Japan, and the connections between both countries.

Tickets are $10.
