The Japanese American Cultural and Community Center, 244 S. San Pedro St. in Little Tokyo, will host the following cultural exhibits and events during Nisei Week, Aug. 9-10 and 16-17.

Community and Special Events — Week 1

Saturday, Aug. 9

JACCC Plaza:

• 9 a.m.: Nisei Week Rubik’s Cube Open

• 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.: Craft Beer Garden by Far Bar

• 12:30 to 4 p.m.: Taiko Gathering

This free outdoor concert showcases local Southern California taiko groups. Now in its 21st year, this event brings over a thousand people to Little Tokyo to experience the sheer power and human spirit of Japanese American taiko. Sponsored by the office of Los Angeles County Supervisor Gloria Molina.
