muratsuchi headquarters for webTORRANCE — Assemblymember Al Muratsuchi (D-Torrance) held a “Kickoff to Victory” rally for the fall general election at his campaign headquarters in Torrance last Saturday with supporters and volunteers in attendance.

In the June primary for the 66th Assembly District, Muratsuchi finished slightly behind Republican David Hadley, a Manhattan Beach businessman, 30,439 votes (49.5 percent) to 30,996 (50.5 percent).

“Absentee ballots begin dropping in just a few weeks and there is no doubt about it — this is going to be a close race and every vote will count,” Muratsuchi said in a statement. “Our campaign has the momentum, but I need your help to spread the word and bring it all home for the South Bay on Nov. 4.”

The district includes Gardena, Hermosa Beach, Lomita, Harbor City, Palos Verdes Estates, Rancho Palos Verdes, Redondo Beach, Rolling Hills, and Rolling Hills Estates.

  1. Al Muratsuchi is trying to take credit for increasing funding to South Bay schools in his mail “He helped increase school funding by $10 billion” that was entirely a result of Prop 30 approved by the voters. What makes this claim really bad is that Assemblyman Muratsuchi voted for the Governor’s Ed bill which actually DECREASES the per pupil spending formula for South Bay Students. Assemblyman Muratsuchi is trying to confuse the facts to save his own job.
