TORRANCE — At the Torrance Water Commission meeting of June 25, Linden Nishinaga was re-elected as chairperson of the commission.
He will continue to serve as chair for another year until June 30, 2015.

At the same meeting, Kent Kawai was elected as vice chairperson, also until June 30, 2015.
Both individuals were originally appointed as water commissioners by the Torrance City Council and are presently serving four-year terms.
The Water Commission is an advisory body to the City Council on fresh water matters. Its duties include making recommendations regarding issues of local water policy, water service facility improvement and expansion, and the Metropolitan Water District. Commission meetings, which are open to the public, are held on the fourth Wednesday of every month.
Nishinaga is a California licensed civil engineer and a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design accredited professional. He has worked as a civil, structural, and seismic engineer; a program and project manager; and a sustainability professional in the Southern California public sector for his entire professional career, which had included positions with the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, Port of Los Angeles, and City of Long Beach Department of Public Works.
