A Great Shakeout special presentation will be held on Friday, Oct. 17, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Little Tokyo Branch of the Los Angeles Public Library, 203 S. Los Angeles St.
Hosted by Alanna Lin Ramage, this public safety event will feature Mindy Chiu of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, who will share her findings from emergency management sessions of Los Angeles County and the City of Los Angeles, reading poems that outline a citywide public safety-inspired art project for Los Angeles.
Video footage of actual earthquakes will be screened. Participants may be asked to submit haiku if time allows. The event will close with a few easy tips that can be used to prepare yourself and the ones you love.
