HUNTINGTON BEACH—Brandon Akio Yamasaki, eldest child of Brent and Kay Aiko (Fukuda) Yamasaki, grandson of James and Kimi Fukuda, and member of Boy Scout Troop 568, was honored at the Eagle Scout Court of Honor at the Huntington Beach Masonic Lodge on Aug. 10.

Yamasaki has spent 11 years in scouting, beginning in Cub Scouts as a Bobcat. After completing his Arrow of Light requirements in 2007, he bridged into Boy Scout Troop 568. He attained Eagle Scout status on Dec. 22, 2013.

Over the years, Yamasaki has participated in a wide variety of outdoor activities, including backpacking, snorkeling, kayaking, river rafting, and snow camping. On his trail to Eagle Scout, he logged five summer camps, 101 service hours, 88 nights of camping, and 163 miles of hiking.

His merit badges include archaeology, citizenship in the world, oceanography, and lifesaving; and his leadership roles have included instructor, scribe, and patrol leader.

Yamasaki is a recent graduate of Ocean View High School in Huntington Beach.
