He is predeceased by his younger brother, Dr. Mitsuo Inouye; survived by his sister-in-law, LilyAnn Inouye; nephews, Dr. Jon Inouye and Glen (Vicki) Mato; nieces, Dr. Sharon (Dr. Stephen Helfand) Inouye and Dr. Caron (Edward Garrett) Inouye; also survived by his grand-nephews, Benjamin Helfand, Jordan Helfand, and Dayton Garrett; grand-niece Mariko Garrett.
