Shigeru Kiyomura passed away on Dec. 5, 2014 at the age of 96. He was born in Fresno, Calif. on May 5, 1918 to Suyeki and Majiu Shiotsu Kiyomura. He was a member of the 442nd Infantry. He married Yoneko Imaizumi in 1946. They resided in Southern California and had one son, Robert. They moved to Utah in 2006 to be near their son while Shig underwent chemotherapy for lymphoma at the Huntsman Cancer Institute and achieved long-term remission. They moved to Syracuse, Utah in 2009 and tolerated the snow but looked forward to their regular trips to Las Vegas, buffets and slot machines.
Shig is survived by his wife and son. He has nieces and nephews in Utah, Texas and California. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters.
Family services were held in Utah. The 49th day service will be in Las Vegas in January 2015.
