Funeral services for the late Mrs. Shizu Matsumura, a 98-year-old, Los Angeles-born Nisei resident of Gardena and former internee of Jerome and Rohwer relocation camps during WWII, who peacefully passed away at home on Nov. 23, 2014, will be held on Friday, Dec. 5, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Faith United Methodist Church, 2115 W. 182nd St., Torrance. Mrs. Matsumura was predeceased by her first husband, Henry Ejiro Yamada, and her second husband, Masao Roy Matsumura. Mrs. Matsumura is survived by her beloved children, Albert Yamada, Kay (Paul) Shishima, Craig (Monice Kwok) Yamada, and Tex Yamada; proud and devoted grandmother of Kurt Yamada, Gina (David Sosa) Shishima of Texas, Tony (Elaine) Shishima, Kristina (Ron) Gorsich, Douglas Shishima, Nicole Yamada and Austin Yamada, the latter of New York; loving sister of Ryo (Jean) Komae, and Kimiko Nakamura, the latter of Pennsylvania. Also survived by six great-grandchildren and many other relatives.
