Cary Joji Fukunaga has been nominated for a Directors Guild of America award for an episode of HBO’s “True Detective.”

The DGA announced the nominations for film on Jan. 13 and for television on Jan. 14.

Also known for the films “Sin Nombre” and “Jane Eyre,” Fukunaga has received an Emmy Award and a Producers Guild of America nomination for “True Detective.”

He will compete in the drama series category with Oscar-winning actress Jodie Foster for her work on Netflix’s “House of Cards”; Dan Attias and Leslie Linka Glatter for episodes of Showtime’s “Homeland”; and Alex Graves for HBO’s “Game of Thrones.”

Foster was also nominated n the comedy category for Netflix’s “Orange Is the New Black” along with Louis C.K. for FX’s “Louie,” Mike Judge for HBO’s “Silicon Valley,” Gail Mancuso for ABC’s “Modern Family’,’ and Jill Soloway for Amazon Prime’s “Transparent.”

The awards will be presented Feb. 7 at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Century City, in a ceremony hosted by actress Jane Lynch.
