Self-management is the key to healthy “genki” living. In a small and lively interactive classroom environment, evidence-based programs that have been tested and proven to be effective will give you opportunities to maintain and even improve your overall wellness.

Keiro’s lifelong learning courses last four to eight weeks and are offered at various locations. The schedule:

  • Memory Kai. Learn practical techniques for enhancing memory in this four-week course.

Four Thursdays, Feb. 26, March, 5, March 12, March 19, 12:45 to 2:45 p.m., at San Gabriel Valley Japanese Community Center, 5019 Encinita Ave., Temple City.

Four Wednesdays, March 18, March 25, April 1, April 8, 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at Montebello Plymouth Congregational Church, 144 S. Greenwood Ave., Montebello.

  • Chronic Disease Self-Management Program. Live a happier, healthier life while managing chronic health conditions in this six-week course.

Six Wednesdays, April 29, May 6, May 13, May 20, May 27, June 3, 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., at Gardena Valley Japanese Cultural Institute, 1964 W. 162nd St., Gardena.

  • Diabetes Self-Management Program. This is a diabetes version of the Chronic Disease Self-Management Program.

Six Tuesdays, April 7, April 14, April 21, April 28, May 5, May 12, 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., at West Los Angeles United Methodist Church, 1913 Purdue Ave., Los Angeles.
