GARDENA — Greater L.A. Chapter of the JACL will hold its Hana Uno Shephard Scholarship and Chapter Fundraising Dance on Saturday, May 30, from 7 to 11 p.m. at Nakaoka Community Center, 1670 W. 162nd St., Gardena.
Dance to music by David Shinjo and enjoy a buffet of delicious finger foods.
The scholarship is awarded to a graduating high school senior with high achievement. At the dance, this year’s recipient will be introduced. The scholarship is named in honor of Hana Uno Shepard, an ardent supporter of GLAS JACL who was active in the redress movement.
There will be an opportunity drawing. Shinjo, Toi Nakamoto and the Monday Night Formation Team will perform an exhibition of dances.
