SAN FRANCISCO — Kimochi will present the Kimochi Spirit Awards this Saturday, May 16, from 12 to 2:30 p.m. at the Sundance Kabuki Cinemas, 1881 Post St. (at Fillmore Street) in San Francisco Japantown.
The senior service agency will recognize individuals and corporations for their legacy of service and community giving.
The master of ceremonies will be Robert Handa of NBC Bay Area. Honorees are as follows:
• Kimochi Spirit Award-Staff — Steve Ishii, associate director
• Kimochi Spirit Award-Volunteer — Ellen Kiyomizu, board Member
• Nihonmachi Spirit Award — Dean Ito Taylor, executive director, API Legal Outreach
• Kimochi Spirit Award-Corporate — PG&E
The program will feature performances by the J-Town Jazz Ensemble; the Ayako Hosokawa Quartet with Akira Tana, Shota Osabe, Bob Kenmotsu and Ken Okada; and Shota Homma, 17-year-old classical pianist and first-place winner of numerous piano competitions.
Raffle drawing includes the grand prize, two round-trip tickets to Japan courtesy of Japan Airlines.
