Emi Matsuoka, born Feb. 10, 1922, a former long-time resident of Pasadena, died on June 13, 2015 after a brief illness in San Jose. She was 93 years old. She is the daughter of James and Shiu Maruyama of Pasadena. She was a salutatorian graduate of Santa Monica High School in 1940. Emi was the widow of Tomoo “Tom” Matsuoka, the former award-winning C.L.C.A. landscape contractor in Pasadena. They were the former co-owners of the Fair Oaks Nursery in Pasadena. Tom Matsuoka died in 1990.
Emi is survived by her brother Shoji Maruyama; her three children Judy Matsuoka-Sarina, James Matsuoka and Jerry Matsuoka; and seven grandchildren.
There will a private family service.
