Metro’s Regional Connector Transit Project has made the following announcements regarding work in Little Tokyo for the week ending Friday, Aug. 28:

• Potholing efforts resume at the First/Alameda intersection to survey existing underground utility lines. Anticipated work hours are 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Activities include saw cutting, excavation, surveying of existing underground utilities, and backfilling.

This activity will require an eastbound directional closure on First Street between Alameda and Hewitt streets.

Through traffic will be maintained on Alameda with lane reductions in place between Temple and Second streets.

Crosswalks at First and Alameda may be restricted during work hours. Pedestrian access will be maintained outside of the work area.

Street parking on northbound Alameda between First and Second will be restricted during work hours.

• Water line relocation continues at First and Alameda. Anticipated work hours are 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. of the subsequent day.

Activities include excavation, installation of water line, and backfilling.

This activity will require a westbound directional closure on First Street between Hewitt and Alameda.

Through traffic will be maintained on Alameda with lane reductions in place between Temple and Second.

Activities such as saw cutting and roadway removal will not be performed during nighttime hours.

• The design-build contractor, Regional Connector Constructors, will be starting geotechnical monitoring installation at the First/Central intersection. Anticipated work hours are 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Activities include sawcutting, excavation, geotechnical monitoring installation and backfilling.

This activity will require a southbound directional closure on Central between First and Second.

Through traffic will be maintained on First with lane reductions in place between San Pedro and Alameda.

Crosswalks at the First/Central intersection will be restricted during work hours; only one crosswalk will be closed at a time.

The west sidewalk on Central, just south of First, will be restricted during work hours. Pedestrian access will be maintained outside of the work zone.

Access to businesses and driveways will be maintained.

All work will be coordinated with activities in the area to minimize impacts to the community.

Construction may result in changes to bus routes or stop locations. Metro will post signs at affected stops to advise of alternative boarding locations. Real-time information is available at http://metro.net/service/advisories or (323) GOMETRO.
