GARDENA — The Okinawa Association of America (OAA) invites you to a special lecture on Tuesday, Oct. 6, at 7 p.m. at the OAA Center, 16500 S. Western Ave. in Gardena.

Ronald Y. Nakasone, Ph.D. will be visiting from Northern California to share his reflections on the shamanic culture of the Ryūkyūs (Okinawa) that includes ancestral veneration and female spiritual functionaries.

Nakasone is a member of the core doctoral faculty at the Graduate Theological Union (GTU) in Berkeley and has published many works on Buddhist thought, aesthetics, art, and ethics; spirituality and aging, as well as Okinawan studies.
