The Los Angeles Police Department announced on Oct. 25 that 81-year-old Grace Asano Nakamura, who had been reported missing, has been found.
“On Oct. 21, 2015, around 11:55 p.m., Mrs. Nakamura was found by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department in Westwood and Santa Monica in good condition,” the LAPD said in a statement. “She was reunited with her family.”
On Oct. 21 around 4:30 p.m., Nakamura was last seen by her family in the 1700 block of Sawtelle Boulevard in West Los Angeles. She suffers from dementia and her family was extremely concerned about her well-being.
The news of her disappearance was spread through social media by City Councilmember Mike Bonin, media and community organizations, with people in the area being asked to be on the lookout. It was not immediately clear whether tips from the public were a factor in solving the case.
