A ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrates the establishment of Kizuna.

Kizuna will celebrate its fifth anniversary on Saturday, May 7, at the Hyatt Regency Long Beach, located at 200 S. Pine Ave. in Long Beach.

The reception will begin at 6 p.m., and dinner and program at 7 p.m.

A youth engagement organization for the Japanese American community, Kizuna has seen its programs grow from serving 39 students in its first year to over 400 in 2015. The students in these programs range from 7-year-olds learning about their Japanese American culture and identity to 35-year-olds building the skills necessary to serve on a nonprofit executive board. Each of these participants is part of Kizuna’s unique pipeline that engages youth and teaches them the importance of giving back to the community.

Kizuna is excited to invite that very community to celebrate the successes of the past five years and to kick-start the next five years and beyond.
