white cane tapping
he wants to cross the street
he is blind
so I stare shamelessly into his eyes
we are the same height
his blue eyes and my brown eyes
meet perfectly
“Can I help you?” I ask
He answers with a happy “ yes”
his arm through mine
we cross Olympic Blvd.
We part and never meet again.
