A celebration of life will be held for Don Nakanishi (1949-2016), former director of the UCLA Asian American Studies Center, on Wednesday, June 8, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Sequoia Room of the UCLA Faculty Center.

Join the Nakanishi family, students, faculty, staff, alumni, friends and colleagues as they celebrate the life of Professor Nakanishi, who passed away on March 21 at the age of 66. A UCLA faculty member for 35 years and director of the Asian American Studies Center from 1990 to 2010, he gained national recognition for establishing Asian American studies as a viable and relevant field of scholarship, teaching, community service and public discourse.
