The inaugural Waseda University Kokusaibu alumni reunion held nearly one year ago and attended by 40 former International Division classmates was such a success that the new committee met several times to plan an encore event.
The second Waseda Kokusaibu Alumni Reunion will be on Saturday, Oct. 8, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Izakaya Fu-Ga, 111 S. San Pedro St. in Little Tokyo. Bento lunch is $37 and includes soft drinks. RSVP by Oct. 3 at https://www.payit2.com/e/kokusaibu.
If you would like to have your Waseda memories added to the video loop to be shown at the event, send digital picture files to skykogachi@me.com with subject line “Waseda Memories” by Oct. 1.
Since the 1960s, American students have learned about Japan by enrolling in the International Division (Kokusai Gakubu) at Waseda University in Tokyo for a year or more. Though reunion attendees were in the program in different years or even different decades, they share many common experiences.
The reunion committee consists of Sky Kogachi, Mika Matsui, Camryn Sugita, Mike Okamura, Paul Abe, Bill Watanabe, Diana Ono, and Janet Anwyl. For more information, contact Kogachi at skykogachi@me.com.

Sounds like fun. Wish I could join. Hope to make the next one. I’m still in Japan, so perhaps we can plan for next year’s event in Tokyo?
Enjoy!
