Kenro Fukuhara passed away from complications of a head injury on Sept. 22, 2016 at Torrance Memorial Medical Center. He was 81 years of age. Born in Kochi, Japan, Kenro decided to move his family to the United States in 1966 to pursue a better life. He worked very hard and ran a successful gardening service for many years. He is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Shigeko; son Akira (Yuki) Fukuhara; daughter Mayumi (Andrew) Ito; grandchildren Ryan, Jay and Ray Fukuhara, Evan and Jordyn Ito; brother Tatsuhiko (Miyoko) Fukuhara from Nara, Japan; sister Hisako (Setsuo) Yamanaka; and many other relatives in the U.S. and Japan.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, Oct. 7, 2016, 10:00 a.m. at Gardena Valley Baptist Church, located at 1630 W. 158th Street, Gardena, CA. Pastor Barry Deguchi from Catalyst Christian Community and Rev. Soki Ito will officiate.
