Los Angeles – Joe Mizuho Miyake was born in Livingston, Calif. on Nov. 22, 1928 to Shiro and Kiyoko Miyake. Raised on a farm, Joe learned about hard work. After WWII, Joe moved to Cleveland, Ohio, then spent several years in New York working as a nightclub singer, using the stage name Rick Kono. He was a great storyteller and had an amazing memory for detail.
On Feb. 21, 2017, Joe died at the age of 88 following complications from surgery. Joe was a fighter and had survived through 5 unrelated cancers and several surgeries. He is survived by his 2 sisters, Hoshi Sugawara and Tsukiko “Skeeter” Koga, brother-in-law Jack Koga, sister-in-law Lil Miyake, and many nieces and nephews.
Joe professed faith in Jesus Christ and is with Him now in glory. A private memorial service will be held.
