Betty Mitsuko Yamagishi (Akiyama), Long Beach-born resident of Los Angeles, passed away on Aug. 27, 2017. She was an internee at Tulare and Gila River relocation camp during World War II. She was very active as a volunteer in the Scouting Organizations at the district level, and at Union Church.
Predeceased by her husband Kiyoshi, son Don, 4 brothers, and her sister. She is survived by her son Jim (Adrienne); 3 granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, Sept. 14, from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Fukui Mortuary, 707 E. Temple St., Los Angeles. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Sept. 15, 7:30 p.m., at Union Church, 401 E. Third St., Los Angeles, with her final resting place at Rose Hills.
