Hiroji “Hige” Yamashita, a 94-year-old, California-born Nisei resident of Los Angeles, former internee of Heart Mountain during WWII who volunteered to serve his country in the highly decorated “Go For Broke” 442nd Regimental Combat Battalion, passed away peacefully at home on Aug. 4, 2017.
Hiroji was predeceased by his son, Jim (April) Yamashita, and his daughter, Kathy Yamashita. He is survived by his beloved wife, Alice; children, Gloria Yamashita, Peggy (Ivan) Pang and Judy (Scott) McClinton; grandchildren, Michael Yamashita, Byron Pang, Jeffrey Pang, Tracie Pang and Jennifer McClinton; siblings, Lillian Komatsu and Miyo Abe; and many nieces, nephews and other family members.
Funeral services were held privately at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills, officiated by Rev. KarenFay Ramos-Young.
