Masao Umekubo - Rafu Shimpo

Mr. Masao Umekubo, 89, resident of Seal Beach, U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2018.

He is survived by his loving family: brother, Tsutomu “Tootie” Umekubo; sister, Ikue (Norio) Akashi of Japan; nieces, Cari (Charles) Casillas, Cathi (Brien) Nagafuchi, Aimee Yamada, Suzanne (John) Kitchens and Masako Hirai of Japan; nephews, Hiroyuki Akashi of Japan, Dennis (Sharon) and Edwin (Janice) Yamanaka; many grandnieces and grandnephews.

Public visitation will be held on Saturday, March 31, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Fukui Mortuary “Chapel in the Garden,” 707 E. Temple St., Los Angeles.

Graveside funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 12, at 11:00 a.m. at Green Hills Memorial Park, 27501 S. Western Ave., Rancho Palos Verdes, with Rimban William Briones of Hompa Hongwanji Buddhist Temple officiating.
