A private funeral service for Harue Ueki, 98-year-old, Laguna Beach, Calif.-born Nisei who passed away on April 2, 2018 in Culver City, was held on Monday, April 16, 2018 at Green Hills Memorial Park with Rev. Kory Quon from Venice Hongwanji Buddhist Temple officiating. A public memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Venice Hongwanji Buddhist Temple, 12371 Braddock Dr., Culver City.
She is pre-deceased by her husband, Sadamu, and survived by her children, Keiko (Tom) Uyeda, Masaki (Sumiko) Ueki and Tomoko (Kei) Fukuda; grandchildren, Deron (Jina) Uyeda, Tiffany (Duane) Fornoff, Shoji, Takisha (Jessica) and Kenji Ueki, Kristina Fukuda and Suzanne (Christopher) Taylor; 4 great-grandchildren; siblings, Morito Ogata, Hideko Onishi, Yukie Inouye and Noriko (Masafumi) Yamasaki, the latter three from Japan; brother-in-law, Hitoshi (Noriko) Uyeki; sister-in-law, Toshie Uyeda of Seattle, Wash.; also survived by many nephews, nieces, and many other relatives in U.S. and Japan. She was a very independent, open-minded person grateful to everyone for their kindness to the end.
