Sachiko Ishiwa

Sachiko “Lily” Ishiwa passed away peacefully on October 28th, 2018 at the age of 91. The Torrance city native was interned in Manzanar during the second World War. She and her family moved to Japan after the war, where she met her husband, Shyun. The couple returned to Los Angeles and spent their days traveling the world together, documenting these trips through her love of photography.

She read the paper daily and frequented her local YMCA to exercise and go out for lunch with her girlfriends. Throughout her entire life she was an avid crocheter and sewer. Her eye for detail and sense of care was ever present, from her handmaid doilies to the bento boxes and treats she would bring to every holiday with family.

Lily was a loving wife, sister, friend, and auntie. She kept those she loved very near and dear. Her happy spirit and wit will always be remembered by those who knew her. She will be greatly missed. Private services were held at Fukui Mortuary on November 11th.
